Macao to shutter casinos for a week in COVID

The Missouri Gaming Commission is allowing all 13 casinos in the state to reopen this week, after more than two months of being closed to curb the spread of the coronavirus. Food and Drug Administration issued the first emergency use authorization for a vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in individuals 16 years of age and older. The emergency use authorization allows the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine to be distributed in the U.S. On May 12, 2021, individuals years of age became eligible to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine following decisions by the FDA, CDC, and the Missouri DHSS. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that wearing masks can slow the spread of COVID-19 when worn consistently and correctly by people in public settings and when masks are used along with other preventive measures. Regions 4 and 10 were the latest ones placed on the rollback list Monday by Pritzker, with advanced mitigation measures set to take effect there Wednesday morning. The most notable changes for casinos are reducing their operating capacities to 25% from 50%, and limiting operating hours to 8 a.m.-11 p.m.

In Phase 5, industry and activity-specific guidelines for operation provided by DCEO are discontinued. All businesses and activities previously subject to DCEO guidelines are allowed to resume normal operations. Outside events will not have a crowd restriction, but anyone in attendance should still practice social distancing and wear masks.
